I have been a fan of Electric Vehicles for years. When I was 17 I saw an ElectriCar (manufactured by UQM of Colorado) on the road and followed it home to ask the owner more questions about it. Since then I have wanted one of my own and read any article I came across that had to do with EVs to further my knowledge. Sadly, in my pursuit of an EV and trying to find one within my price range or ability to maintain, I have not had much luck.
In 2003 I bought a 1995 Dodge Avenger. It was just your average run of the mill ICE, but it was one of those cars that people who owned them loved (I sure did) and went to great pains to maintain them and modify them. As I attempted to get mine in the best running order as possible and looked towards making modifications to mine to improve its performance, I turned to the internet for resources. What I found was there was essentially one website that was the definitive resource for everything Dodge Avenger related, the Avenger/Sering Owner's Group.
It is my hope that the EVHQ will become just such a site. At present, if you are looking to purchase an EV there are numerous sites you can search, but they're difficult to find and are not always updated or maintained in a timely manner (there are some exceptions to this of course such as the EV Tradin' Post) and doing any sort of refined search is unavailable. If you are looking to pursue knowledge regarding EVs or DIY conversions, there is always the Electric Vehicle Discussion List (EVDL), but it is always ongoing with multiple new e-mail messages daily and searching the archives is difficult if not impossible. There are several companies trying to put together franchises for EV dealers that are meeting with limited success because the EV community is fractured. It is my hope to bring all of these things and sites together under one roof.
As I develop and grow the EVHQ I would invite those that had other EV sites will be invited to host their content on the EVHQ and to become regularly participating members. I will be contacting those companies trying to get franchise dealerships for EVs to advertise on the EVHQ and to sponsor the site. I hope to have space for individual owners to host information about their vehicles and share their experiences. I want the site to have a forum for questions, sales and information sharing. In short, I want the EVHQ to be the definitive site for anything EV related.
I welcome your opinions and suggestions as I work to get the EVHQ off the ground.
